Main Page
Our Mission Statement: To provide the best shell service around. Notice I didn't just say free shell service, meaning, we offer features even paid services couldn't dream of, like mirrored home directories across all server nodes, free access to IceCast, TeamSpeak, Subversion/Git, and any other service our members request.
Bottom line is, if you're cool, you've got an account at Global Shellz.

Rules
If you are thinking about becoming a new Global Shellz member, take a few moments to familiarize yourself with our channel rules and server rules.
Registration process
Through much experience, we've determined we cannot just simply give away accounts to anyone as much as we would like to. Do not worry though, there are several ways to join the ranks of Global Shellz.
First thing you need to do is sign up on our website http://globalshellz.org and follow the New User HOWTO to help you get setup. Note: you will not have shell account created during this part of the process. That is only reserved for our Residents.
After signing up, we encourage you to do the following things to have your shell account activated:
- Get on irc.freenode.net with your favorite IRC client and join #globalshellz. Get to know the admins, ops and other members. This is the easiest way to get your account.Click here for the webchat
- Good at scripting (bash, PHP, Perl, Python, JavaScript, etc.) or know your way around GIMP or Photoshop? Show us your skills and we'll show you a login!
- Have .edu bandwidth or the ability to host a server for the community? Give us a shout and we'll see what we can work out from there.
User levels
If you're seriously interested in an account at Global Shellz, it's important you check out our membership levels, so you know what to expect. In order to grow within our community, we have developed a points system for counting activity. The structure can be found at Global Shellz Points.
HOWTO
You may also want to check out our HOWTO page which has links to answer many of the questions you may have about the shell.
